We have officially entered the collection media of national cultural and art institutions

"Brilliant Metal Impression" X "Wu Meiqi YXX – The Flares", we have officially entered the list of media collections of national cultural and art institutions 🎉

When appreciating Maggie's works, the Art Bank mentioned: "She adopts the technology of "heat-transferred metal imaging" to maximize the saturation of colors , so that the light and shadow images are more vivid and sharp in front of the viewers."

Maggie's solo exhibition "Wu Meiqi YXX – The Flares" held at the end of 2019, all works were produced and exported with metal prints. At the end of October last year, we suddenly received a message from Maggie asking about the details of the metal print material. Only then did I know that three of the works in that exhibition had passed the review of the Art Bank. She wanted to know more details about the media in case of the final review...

Sure enough, as we expected, her works were successfully collected by the Art Bank of the Ministry of Culture. Apart from being happy for her, I would like to thank Maggie for using our metal prints to present her creations. Thanks to her, we have also officially entered the national I am so happy to be included in the media collections of cultural and art institutions!

Appreciating her works again, I couldn’t help but share the photos from the opening of Majestic’s exhibition at the end of November 2019. I really miss the time before the epidemic, when we could pose like this and take pictures freely!

Here, let us introduce these three works of Maggie one by one.

Appreciation of works

Artist Wu Meiqi has continued to conduct scientific experiments on still life images in the past few years, using photography as a medium to explore the possibility of objects of different materials in space. Deconstructing the image of the work in front of you, you can see that in front of the black background, there are mainly three orange objects wrapped in aluminum foil containers, emitting a brilliant light like diamonds. Objects arranged in space inevitably have a relationship between front and back. In mathematics, we are used to defining three-dimensional space as the three axial coordinates of XYZ, so that each object in the screen can be accurately converted into digital coordinates. This is also the reason why Meiqi Wu named the artwork, X represents the real object itself, and the mirror image reflected by the mirror. Y is the medium, representing the change of light and shadow. In the interlaced space of virtual and real created by Wu Meiqi, she focused on recording the trajectory of light and shadow movement.

Title of work: YXX-The Flares #6
Year of Creation: 2019
Work size: 1105 x 140 x 3 cm
Work form: framed

Appreciation of works

Once Wu Meiqi took the elevator and found that the wall was glued with suction cups. It turned out that the guards used the suction cups to fix the ballpoint pens for the convenience of signing. She quickly analyzed the effect of the suction cup plus light and shadow in her mind. This is the daily moment when artist Wu Meiqi is fascinated by the material. From the transparency of the suction cup and the light and shadow of the stained glass, to the sense of perspective produced by the interlaced long straw lines, the object is removed from its original practicality, leaving a pure aesthetic feeling of form. Through the control of light, the shape of the object is further transformed. It is also deconstructed, and the form of matter is under various distortions and deformations, revealing a sense of science fiction and surrealism. When we put Wu Meiqi's works in the dark, as long as there is a little light, we will unexpectedly find that each work seems to be shining alone. She adopts the technology of "heat-transferred metal imaging" to maximize the saturation of colors, making the light and shadow images more vivid and sharp in front of the viewers.

Title of work: YXX-The Flares #10
Year of Creation: 2019
Work size: 103.1 x 69 x 3 cm
Work form: framed

Appreciation of works

To mix and match unexpected objects into a harmonious space tone requires a pair of curious eyes like a child. Artist Wu Meiqi’s works in each series show her current obsession with a certain material. The most conspicuous in the <YXX-The Flares> series are low-cost plastics including hair clips and plastic tubes. She usually sells them in flea markets or It is a public welfare second-hand store looking for materials. When creating, she needs to set up the scene first, and then collage composite media for still life shooting. Along the spatial axis, she creates an infinitely extendable space for plane photography, using the refraction and reflection of a large number of light, and the principle of mirror image, she dominates the layout of space like a creator, and the distorted light also records the plasticity of time. She confirmed Einstein's theory of relativity in an alternative way, the space is actually very paradoxical, it may be compressed and distorted like jelly.
