Guide to Choosing Hanging Accessories for Metal Prints
Through this guide, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the five hanging and framing options we offer when you order metal prints from Weis Image.
Special Note: Purchasing Aluminum Frames Separately
The framing instructions on this page primarily apply to complete works ordered together with metal prints. Due to the high demand for our premium metal aluminum frames, if you are a flat artist, creator, or looking for suitable frames for your other works, we warmly welcome you to purchase "Simple Metal Aluminum Frames" or "Archival Metal Aluminum Frames" separately!
Five Framing Options - Overview
Whether it's a digital print, fine art photography, or a professional certificate, every metal print displayed on a wall needs the right frame to highlight its value. We specially select high-quality, moisture-proof, and durable metal aluminum frames to provide your masterpiece with the most stable protection and the most perfect display effect.
We currently offer the following five hanging and framing methods:
- Floating Mount Frame: Creates a minimalist floating effect, making the artwork appear to hover on the wall.
- Simple Metal Frame: Provides a refined border for the artwork, presenting a clean and classic texture.
- Archival Metal Frame: Creates visual depth, adding substantial presence to the artwork.
- Double-Layer Floating Aluminum Frame: A dual aluminum frame structure that showcases the artwork's dimensionality and floating effect.
- Floating Mount + Archival Frame: Suspended on pure white, the aesthetic of displaying classic artworks.
To help you better understand the visual differences between various frames, we have juxtaposed the three most common styles for a clear comparison:
- Floating Mount Frame: The artwork has no frame on the front and floats 2.6cm from the wall.
- Archival Metal Frame: The frame creates a showcase effect, emphasizing its archival value. Front width is 0.6cm, side height is 4cm.
- Simple Metal Frame: The most classic frame. Front width is 0.8cm, side height is 2.6cm.
- Floating Mount Frame: (Same as option 1)
Diverse Colors for Archival Metal Frames:
- 5. Eye-catching Gold
- 6. Classic Silver
- 7. Vintage Antique Silver
- 8. Steady Brown
Option One: Floating Mount Frame
Create a minimalist floating effect, making the artwork appear to hover on the wall.
This is our most popular hanging accessory option! It best embodies the sleek, "borderless" beauty of metal prints, offering a modern and simple aesthetic that suits various space styles. With a back frame thickness of 2.6cm, it becomes completely hidden once hung, giving the metal print a three-dimensional visual effect as if it's floating on the wall.
Beyond aesthetics, this option also serves a practical function of structural reinforcement. We use a lightweight yet sturdy silver aluminum back frame to effectively enhance the structural integrity of the metal print, preventing warping or deformation from long-term display or storage. The size of the floating mount frame is reduced by 2 inches on each side from the artwork's dimensions. We adhere to this inward reduction ratio, never shrinking the back frame to save costs, precisely to achieve the optimal balance between aesthetics and stability, ensuring every metal print can be displayed for a long time!
Furthermore, if your artwork's long side exceeds 100 cm, we will add an extra aluminum bar in the middle of the back frame to further enhance the stability of large pieces, providing top-tier protection:
Option Two: Simple Metal Frame
Provides a refined border for the artwork, presenting a clean and classic texture.
This metal aluminum frame features a simple and sleek design, with a front width of 0.8cm. It subtly provides a crisp border for your metal print, making it the most classic and popular choice for showcasing photographic works. This frame type is an excellent choice when you want the edges of your artwork to have a more defined boundary or when you wish to create a contrast between the metal print and a dark wall. It effectively guides the eye, making the subject of the artwork stand out more prominently.
For meticulous detail protection, we use a 5mm thick PP plastic corrugated board as the backing. This material is flat, lightweight, durable, and environmentally friendly. To achieve the best overall visual effect, we will automatically select the most suitable backing board color (classic white or classic black) based on your frame color and artwork size. Finally, spring clips will be added to secure the artwork in the gap between the corrugated board and the metal frame, and transparent non-slip pads will be applied to protect your display wall from scratches.
Option Three: Archival Metal Frame
Creates visual depth, adding substantial presence to the artwork.
This metal aluminum frame boasts an elegant and sleek design, making it a classic choice for displaying important works such as photographs, prints, or award certificates. When you wish to imbue your artwork with a stronger presence and sense of value, the archival frame is undoubtedly your top choice.
Its unique "recessed floating design" is a major highlight: the 1cm recessed depth on the front makes your metal print appear "embedded" within the frame, creating subtle light and shadow layers with the frame edge; meanwhile, the 4cm side height adds more substance to the overall structure, presenting a professional quality akin to a museum gallery.
(Note: The backing board also uses 5mm thick PP corrugated board, and includes stable spring clips and transparent non-slip pads to protect the wall. Regardless of the metal frame color, all hardware accessories are uniformly silver.)
Option Four: Double-Layer Floating Aluminum Frame
Dual aluminum frame structure, showcasing the artwork's dimensionality and floating effect.
If you desire a framing texture similar to an oil painting frame for your metal print, but prefer a modern, sleek metal material, then the "Double-Layer Floating Aluminum Frame" will be your best choice. This is the ultimate expression of our craftsmanship, maximizing the artwork's sense of value and uniqueness, and is the ultimate framing solution for your most important creations, art collections, or cherished heirlooms.
Frame-within-a-frame floating structure analysis:
We elevate the metal print three-dimensionally using a hidden inner frame, then enclose it with an archival outer frame, forming a unique "frame-within-a-frame" structure. There is approximately 0.5cm of space between the artwork and the outer frame, and the floating height is about 0.4cm lower than the outer frame. This design creates unparalleled visual depth and layering. Both the inner and outer frames are made of high-quality aluminum, and the open design allows the back of the metal print and the aluminum frame structure to be fully visible, serving as the best proof of quality!
(Special note: The certificate product photo below is a special custom case, with 1/8" rounded corners on all four corners of the artwork, please be aware.)
Option Five: Floating Mount + Archival Metal Frame
Suspended on pure white, the aesthetic of displaying classic artworks.
If you wish to create a sense of spaciousness and display for your metal print through "white space," this option will certainly satisfy you. This framing method is one of the most common presentation techniques for contemporary photography and giclée prints in international art galleries, as it best embodies the artistry and value of the work.
The Charm of Floating Art-within-Art and Built-in White Space:
We elevate your metal print with a PVC rigid flat board (approx. 4mm), causing it to float three-dimensionally above a 3mm thick white aluminum composite base panel, creating a distinct shadow boundary. Combined with generous white space around the perimeter (the base panel is typically about 10cm larger than the artwork in both length and width), the artwork appears to float within a pristine frame. Regardless of the wall it's displayed on, it effortlessly creates a serene and sophisticated museum-like ambiance.
Thoughtful Reminders About Size and Structure
Floating mount framing is suitable for metal prints of all sizes. The largest size we have framed to date is 80x150cm (metal print dimensions 70x140cm).
Although we particularly reinforce the structure when framing large pieces, if you anticipate that this artwork will need to be moved or repositioned frequently in the future, we strongly recommend that: the overall dimensions of the artwork, including the floating mount, should ideally have its longest side controlled within 110cm. This will make the overall structure more stable and reduce risks during transport!

Ordering Size Instructions:
If you're interested in this framing style, you're welcome to order directly online! Please pay special attention: when ordering, please select the product "according to the size of the metal print," and then check "Floating Mount + Archival Metal Frame" in the options.
For example, if you wish to create the artwork shown below, please select a product size of 18" x 12" (landscape). Once we complete the production, including the white border base plate and archival metal frame, the overall internal dimensions of the artwork will be 22" x 16" (outer dimensions approximately 56.4 x 41.1cm).
